How we helped a major professional society align its strategic goals to operations
A major professional society needed a way to organize its annual strategic plan in a way that revealed progress in meeting the needs of its members and industry. The client also wanted to align its plan with operational programs and foster cross-department collaboration. Transparency to the board was another critical need.
dPrism helped the client to organize its operations into a half-dozen strategic portfolios that cross department lines. We helped the organization to analyze which programs and services must change to conform with the new plan and brought a new cloud-based tool for tracking progress of our client’s goals for the society.
The client has used a mission-based strategic plan with thematic portfolios since 2017. Each portfolio tracks progress on 3-4 annual strategic goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely (SMART). The client also now measures progress on Key Performance Indicators (revenue, expenses, engagement, etc.).
